Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP)

Kellogg College, Oxford

The Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) is running a training programme at Kellogg College, Oxford, during the week beginning 16th April.

The course is being run by Public Health Consultants, including Dr Peter Bradley, Head of Publc Health Development, Public Health Wales, and myself, and covers important competencies for public health practitioners.

For more information, click here.

There is a standard 25% discount for the NHS, however, we are also offering a limited number of further discounts for people in Public Health who are prepared to contribute to delivering CASP workshops in the future. We are offering to reduce the fee to just cover the Training the Trainer two-day course, and waive the first three day costs in return for help in facilitation or delivery of future workshops. (That would mean attending the whole week for a fee of £300 plus the catering costs for the Mon-Tues/Wed.) We think that this represents and important opportunity, especially for those in training to really gain confidence in evidence-based practice and teaching.

One further option we are offering for those in Public Health Training is the opportunity to attend one CASP training day, either Day 1 (Intro to EBHC & RCT appraisal) or Day 2 (Making Sense of Results, and SR workshop), if they simply want to polish their own skills in critical appraisal in this area.
