Healthy Lives, Healthy People: Improving UK Public Health

The year 2012 is set to be one of dramatic change for public health provision in preparation for the dismantling of PCTs and SHAs in 2013.  
    
Health and Wellbeing Boards will be tasked with maximising integration between the GP consortia, NHS, public health and social care, promoting joint commissioning with CCG's to develop more effective procurement strategies.  
     
With this in mind, Inside Government would like to invite you to join an interactive discussion with a number of key experts in public health to discuss future strategies for improving the health of our nation and share your views on the latest government policy. 

    
With radical changes to commissioning imminent, we are pleased to announce Professor Tim Baxter, Head of the Public Health Development Unit, Department of Health has confirmed to speak at this pivotal forum.  
  
CONFIRMED SPEAKER: Tim's Morning Keynote, 'The Government's Vision for an Improved Public Health System' will tackle the following important topics:   
    
- Response to Healthy Lives, Healthy People White Paper and outcomes of the NHS Future Forum   
- The role of Public Health England   
- The impact of ring-fenced public health funding and new health premiums  
- Incentivising local government to improve health in their communities   
- Establishing effective partnerships for public health delivery  
- Encouraging innovation within public health and concentrating on outcomes
  
Furthermore, Councillor Ernie White, Chairman of the Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board, Leicestershire County Council will be talking through how to bring together NHS commissioners, local authorities and community representatives to improve procurment services and enable communities to enjoy healthier lives.
