Risk Communication in Public Health

The workshop will be led by Kathryn Thirlaway (University of Wales Institute Cardiff)

This session will cover:

  • Conceptualising risk and communication - what is a risk? - why communicate risks? - examples of good and bad communications
  • Communicating risks ? errors in processing risk - case studies on the methods and theories that underpin the risk communication
  • Risk and changing behaviour ? acute and chronic risk communication

Covering practitioner standards:
Area 2 No.8 underpinned by Area 1, Area 3 and Area 4 No.12

The event is relevant for:
All public health professionals / workers (for example, anyone whose role impacts the health and wellbeing of individuals / communities / populations)

How to apply:
The event is free to attend (but failure to attend without 48 hours notice will result in an administration fee of £45 per delegate)

Places are limited and will be allocated on a ?first come first served? basis

Before the event:
On receipt of registration forms individuals will be sent an email to confirm their place; joining instructions will also be provided
