Helping Families Change Conference

Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow
8-10 February 2012

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 14th Helping Families Change Conference to be held in the iconic Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow from 8-10 February 2012.

Glasgow is a city of great contrasts. It has much to boast about including breathtaking architecture, world-class museums and galleries, fabulous shopping and an extensive selection of great bars and restaurants, not to mention its affable people. However, despite its many accolades, Glasgow includes many of the most disadvantaged communities in Scotland with high levels of child poverty, substance misuse and low life expectancy. As part of our public health strategy to improve health and well-being in this city, the City Council and NHS have prioritised action in early years and have adopted Triple P as a whole population approach. We are, therefore, particularly pleased to host the international Helping Families Change Conference to share our experience of Triple P implementation in Glasgow and to learn from experiences in other cities and countries.

We are confident the conference, spread over 3 days, will give delegates an opportunity to share and reflect upon innovative programmes to support families as well as observe and hear international speakers and first class research through a variety of oral, workshop, symposia and masterclass presentations. And of course no conference would be complete without a superb social programme giving you an opportunity to meet with colleagues old and new.

I am thrilled that Glasgow will host the 2012 conference and hope you will join us in this vibrant city.

Linda de Caestecker
Conference Chair & Director of Public Health, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde
