Efficiency in Asset Management: Maximising Value from the Public Sector Estate

Efficiency in Asset Management: Maximising Value from the Public Sector Estate
Tuesday 12th April 2011, Central London, 09:00 - 16:00

Inside Government would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend 'Efficiency in Asset Management: Maximising Value from the Public Sector Estate,? taking place on Tuesday 12th April 2011 in central London.

Reducing the £156 billion deficit, as the government has stressed, is the most important challenge facing the UK. The Government?s estate is valued at £370 billion and currently costs £25 billion per year to run. This is a key area where savings can be realised. However, for savings to be achieved there needs to be clarity over the role of property and what savings are to be expected.

In order for savings to be achieved, there needs to be innovative and collaborative practices throughout the public sector. One example of this is Her Majesty?s Revenue and Customs, who have vacated 130 tax offices in the past year and have licensed space in 90 council buildings across the UK.

A cross-government public sector asset strategy, including the local government estate and the supply of capital and demand, will be published in March 2011. This will provide clear guidance for the public sector on the scale of the challenge and what will be required to meet it.

With this in mind, this highly informative and interactive forum will provide delegates with a timely opportunity to hear from the leading policy makers and shapers involved in driving efficiency through public sector estate and asset management, whilst hearing from best practice examples from across the public sector, from those who have been delivering efficiencies in this area.
