Facilitation Skills Training (Wales)

Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff
30 September 2010

The Professional and Organisational Development function of Public Health Wales has a national remit for public health workforce development which includes promoting capability and capability across the whole public health system in Wales.

As part of a programme of CPD events we are offering places on a Facilitation Skills Training course. The training will use the concept of pure facilitation (where the facilitator has no direct interest in the outcome) as the basis for developing facilitation skills. Common learning points include: Understanding the difference between facilitation and implementation; understanding the difference between facilitation and change management; the practice of different facilitation tools and techniques; learning how to combine different facilitation tools and techniques; learning how to combine different techniques; ability to distinguish between ?hard? and ?soft issues?.

Note: this course is about helping others to share their views and / or to make decisions. That means that it is not about methods for direct management or implementation of change, although facilitation techniques can be used to elicit views, options and information about the change.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
